Mikkael Sekeres, MD

Dr. Mikkael A. Sekeres is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and staff in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Ohio. He earned a medical degree and a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Sekeres completed his postgraduate training at Harvard University, finishing an internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospitaland a fellowship in hematology-oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. He is vice-chair of the medical advisory board of the Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) International Foundation as well as on the scientific review committee. His current research focuses on patients with MDS and older adults with acute myeloid leukemia.

 
Learning Objectives

In general, oncology/hematology professionals who avail themselves of the conference summary on MDS should be able to:

  • Understand the clinical impact of emerging therapies and supportive care strategies.
  • Evaluate the published data based on study design, the reported results, and authors’ conclusions.
  • Consider the reviewed data as it relates to previous, concurrent and the future practice of clinical oncology.
