Target Audience

This activity is intended for healthcare professionals involved in the management of chemotherapy-induced anemia.


Learning Objectives

After completing this educational activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Propose a therapeutic treatment of anemia in the patient undergoing chemotherapy by comparing the two hematopoietic growth factors, epoetin alfa and darbepoetin alfa, in terms of transfusion requirements and hemoglobin levels
  • Assess the effectiveness and feasibility of extended-dosing schedules of epoetin alfa and darbepoetin alfa based on individual patient considerations
  • Predict the potential benefits of primary prophylaxis with hematopoietic growth factors in those patients undergoing dose-dense chemotherapy regimens
