Although the five-year survival rate is poor in early stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with surgery alone, neither neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy can be recommended as standard. In patients with unresectable stage III disease, randomized trials have demonstrated the superiority of concurrent chemoradiation over sequential administration.
