The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Kiadis Pharma orphan drug designation for their product ATIR for the prevention of Graft-versus-Host-Disease (GVHD).
ATIR is the lead product for Kiadis Pharma and was designed to prevent the development of GVHD among patients undergoing an allogeneic bone marrow transplant.
ATIR selectively eliminates donor immune cells that are responsible for GVHD, while allowing donor immune cells that are fighting cancer and restoring blood cell levels to remain. The intent is to allow for mismatched donors to be used for an allogeneic transplant so that patients don’t die while waiting for a matched donor, or are at a significant risk for GVHD.
