Veridex, LLC has been granted 510(k) marketing clearance for their CellSearch system for the monitoring of metastatic colorectal cancer.
CellSearch has already been approved for monitoring metastatic breast cancer, making this new 510(k) marketing clearance the second indication for the test.
CellSearch measures levels of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from blood samples of patients. CellSearch automates the detection and enumeration of cancer cells in the bloodstream. With evaluation of CTCs during treatment, the progress of cancer is able to be measured.
