Nplate™ Demonstrates Long-term Efficacy in ITP (12/17/2008) Long-term interim data from an open-label extension study have demonstrated that treatment with Nplate® (romiplostim) maintains platelet levels for up to four years among adult patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). These results were recently reported at the 2008 American Society of Hematology meeting in San Francisco, California.
Long-term Oral Promacta® Is Effective Therapy for Chronic ITP (12/11/2008) Researchers affiliated with an international study (RAISE) have reported that long-term use of Promacta® (eltrombopag, Revolade®) is safe and effective for the treatment of chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). This study was presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) in San Francisco on December 8, 2008.
Rituxan® and Dexamethasone Improves Outcomes of Patients with ITP (12/8/2008) Researchers from Italy have reported that the addition of Rituxan® (rituximab) to dexamethasone improves platelet responses in previously untreated patients with idiopathic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) compared with dexamethasone alone. The details of this study were presented in the Plenary Session of the annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology on December 7, 2008.
Nplate® Approved for ITP (8/25/2008) Amgen’s platelet simulator Nplate® (romiplostim) has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) who are refractory to standard therapy.
ODAC Recommends Approval of Nplate (7/15/2008) The Oncology Drugs Advisory Committee (ODAC), which provides recommendations to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has recommended the approval of Nplate™ (romiplostim) for the treatment of thrombocytopenia in adult patients with chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).
